2023 Sandra Sagear Wall of Courage Honoree
Drew Poet passed away on April 20, 2019—months after his 17th
birthday—following a 16-month-long battle with Ewing’s sarcoma, a rare and difficult to diagnose pediatric bone cancer. Drew was full of life, upbeat, fun loving, and the embodiment of positive-vibes-only.
With life-of-the-party charisma, Drew lit up every room he was in and made everyone he knew feel special. Family and friends meant everything to Drew and he took nothing, especially time, for granted.
Drew set high goals for himself. He was a successful athlete and an accomplished scholar. He worked exceptionally hard to achieve, and often exceed, his objectives. Following his diagnosis, Drew continued to inspire and motivate others to live their lives to the fullest.
The Drew Poet Foundation was established to carry on Drew’s legacy, raise awareness, support research, and ultimately find a Cure for Ewing’s sarcoma. Through his Foundation, Drew continues to change lives.
